Hello!

Hello and welcome to my woolly world.
For my first post I would like to share a little project which has been complete for a few weeks now, but has yet to be delivered to its recipients. An old and dear friend of mine recently gave to birth to gorgeous twin boys. They came into the world a few weeks earlier than expected but are now thankfully doing well. I started to make blankets for the babies well before they arrived but as I didn't know whether they were going to be boys or girls I decided to go for bright, bold colours that would suit either sex. Here is the first blanket...
I was really unsure about this blanket all through the making process, right up until I began the edging. Once started the edging seemed to bring it all together somehow and I wound up being really pleased with the end result.
For the second blanket I wanted to use the same colours but in a different arrangement and I eventually settled on this rainbow sequence of wider stripes…

Again, I ended up being pleased with how it turned out, but I think the first one is my favourite of the two blankets.  I used Jarol Heritage DK yarn, the content of which is 55% wool but is still machine washable, which in my opinion is pretty important for a baby item! The yarn is beautifully soft and will be lovely and warm for keeping little bodies warm in the coming winter months!
Now, I’ve tried this blogging malarkey before, but have always lost interest eventually or just gotten worried about too much personal stuff being ‘out there’ on the internet. I’m a fairly open person and do tend to wear my heart on my sleeve, which I don’t always see as being a good thing! The upshot of which is that I do find myself feeling rather vulnerable sometimes and past blogs have been deleted in a fit of panic, despite there really being nothing to panic about.
So anyway, here is another Woollyholic foray into the blogosphere. May this one last a little longer! For now it is my intention to blog about my crafty endeavours, such as they are. Anyway, I hope anyone who invests any of their time into reading this enjoys a little glimpse into my crafty world!

  1. I love them. I really want a stripey blanket to snuggle under on the sofa. I could add to it as it snuggle!

Would you like to add this to making Monday on my blog? Just put it in the comments.

  2. Oh lovely...the first blanket is a stunner. The second is lovely too but I prefer the first.
I often find that blogging my feelings to possibly nobody is quite cathartic.
It's been a great help this year.

  3. I love both blankets but the first does work exceptionally well. Good work. I feel you about the blogging quandary. You never know how much to put out there especially if you are going through a challenging time = you don't want to portray yourself in the wrong way! Good luck with the blog

  4. The blankets are both gorgeous. I love that they are both completely different but also match for the twins. Your friend is going to love them. Glad you're back and blogging. You're inspiring me to resurrect mine now if I can only make the time. xx

  5. Hello!!! Really glad your back in the blogging world, love those blankets and I have to say the sencond is my favourite, I love the big bold stripes and I'm sure the babies will too:)
I too am with you on the blogging front, I stopped for a while this year, we too have had a pretty traumatic year and it all seemed a bit frivolous really. But I'm back, if I'm honest mainly so my mum and best friend back home can see what I'm up too as we don't live near. But its really nice to chat to blogging friends as no none of my friends here share my interests and no matter how hard I try, my boys will not get excited about a new ball of wool or a fab new pattern - go figure!!!
Look forward to chatting again x
